For those who appreciate the effort and detail that goes into sculpting something out of clay, the 8th annual Dirt Dauber Clay Festival is a must-attend event. This annual festival continues its several-year tradition in late May.
Where and When
This year’s Dirt Dauber Clay Festival will be at the Eye of the Dog Arts Center, just like in previous years. That art center is at 405 Valley View West Road, so you should be able to find it relatively easily. Admission is free and the event is on Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20. On Saturday it starts at 10 a.m.; it begins at 12 p.m. on Sunday. Both days, the event ends at 5 p.m.
Browse the Clay Crafts
As you explore the Dirt Dauber Clay Festival, you will find more than 40 different clay artists from around Texas showing off their wares and demonstrating how they make their pieces. You can go window shopping to admire all the gorgeous pieces, but we suggest bringing along some money so you can buy pieces that truly catch your eye. You may find décor for your home or that one-of-a-kind gift you have been in search of for a birthday, graduation present, or other upcoming occasion. Make sure to check out the winners from the Second Annual Mug Show while at the festival as the work will be on display.
This free event is family friendly and even includes an area for kids to play with clay. This means you may get to take home a memento your child makes that day or see your child become inspired by the amazing artwork and take an interest in creating art from clay.
