Authentic Latin Music at Texas State University’s Noche de Mariachi

Listen to authentic Latin music at its best by attending Noche de Mariachi on Nov. 27 at 7:00 p.m. The concert will be held at the Evans Auditorium at Texas State University and will feature music from Texas State Mariachi Nueva Generación (MNG). This is regarded as one of the best university mariachis in the state, and you can see it for yourself without paying anything. Admission is free, and you don’t need to be a student of the school to attend.

Take a minute to learn a bit more about MNG. Then, you’ll know why this is such a big deal.

It’s a Passion Project

Some people perform in mariachi bands because it pays the bills. MNG is a real passion project though. MNG started as a class back in 1997. Interested students enrolled in it and studied everything associated with mariachi, and they learned how to perform. It didn’t take long for the instructors to realize they had a lot of talent on their hands, and they took the act on the road. Before long, a legend was born.

It’s an Award-Winning Ensemble

MNG isn’t just your average ensemble. The team has won various awards. That includes awards at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza in San Antonio. That’s one of the biggest mariachi events in the state, so to come out on top is a really big deal.

It Helps Recruit Other Performers

The performers are so good that they’re used to recruit others. They go on recruiting trips and help find other great performers to enroll in the university. This is how it manages to keep so much talent year after year. It takes the best to find the best, and MNG has that covered.
